Ben Kaplan of SSC stamped his authority from the beginning of the one off race with Roger
Walton and Norman Brown (both BTYC) swapping places for 2nd and 3rd with RS1131 up
there for the ride but finishing up in the drink. Joel Schrire and Martin Hime both put in good
recoveries to finish 4th and 5th, and the front runners all flew spinnakers without problems.
It was a first time for Agata of BTYC being the only lady entry, who despite a capsize still
finished the race and was presented with a bottle for her efforts.
A mostly northerly 8mph wind with few stronger gusts made for an enjoyable warm
afternoons sail with just three capsizes.
NCSC Race Officer Brian Garrard was gratefully assisted by Jim Falconer and John
Sheppard. Thanks go to the rescue teams and to Seahorse for the use of their clubhouse.
Prizes were awarded for the first 5 places, plus first and only lady competitor. The GP14
trophy was presented after having been mislaid in 2009.
There were 23 GP’s, 1 RS200, no entries from Fireflies or Merlins.
